When I tried to ask this question to some of the people living in my neighborhood, who are ardent internet users, I got the following interesting responses.
“My neighbor is a computer addict. Thanks to the engineers and programming industry, a successful businessman is now jobless and under huge debt. Still wondering \’whose fault is it?\’”
“My friend in high school was a brilliant and studious guy. As soon as we got out of High school, he bought a computer and an internet connection thinking that it would help him. He aspired to become a software engineer. But soon, within weeks, he started bunking college more and more. His grades started dropping. And he was thrown out of school. An engineer\’s creation killed many budding engineers, and still are. They are to be blamed.”
Surprising it is! Everyone seems to be blaming the technology and the brains behind it. At one point we praise them and worship them like Gods, at fateful others, we curse them! But the big question here is, engineers and programmers and scientists are to be blamed for they brought the world closer through internet. Okay! And what about those people who leave their own businesses and studies just to see what other people are doing? Or chatting on the internet forums and chat rooms? Or even watching internet porn and gambling?
It is very easy to blame others, but it is very difficult to accept your own mistake. It is tough to hold yourself responsible for the losses you took, be it personal, professional, emotional, or whatever.
Yes, technology at our doorstep, and technology so convenient is a reason that spoils most of us, but similar is easy access to food joints. Does that mean we all become obese in matter of weeks? No! Because we hold ourselves and our loved ones back and resist the temptation. Similar is the case with internetting. Stop yourself from over indulgence and also the ones around you!
It is your responsibility also.
Every good thing has its adverse affects. It is our responsibility to act sensible.
